Forest
Hi my name is Forest, my friends like to call me Gump or the Gumpster. I like to antagonize my sister Emma and well, EAT!
I came into this family while my dad was working the graveyard shift (what a scary name, why do humans call it that?) at a local gas station/convenient store. He was on shift when he kept hearing my little cries of hunger, but couldn’t figure out where they were coming from. He and the guy he worked with finally took off a vent cover and found little scrawny me. Dad fed me some leftover hot dogs they had on the grill and gave me some water.
I knew I liked him the moment I saw him. He has a really big heart and a huge soft spot for fur kids. He was walking around trying to devise a plan to bring me home. Then he called my mom at 4:30 in the morning and woke her up, (boy what a brave dad I have)! He told her he had found me and he was afraid to leave me at the store because it was near a very busy highway and he didn’t want me to get hurt. Mom took some convincing ( but she’s a sucker for a fur kid in need too). Mom evidently fell back asleep only to once again be awoken by dad at 5:30 a.m. as my new dad walked through the front door to our house announcing to everyone “hey kids we have a new little brother”! I was in an old beer box for goodness sakes! Mom jumped up out of bed and said what have you done now?!??!?!?! OOPS! She really does have a huge heart
Dad took me out of the box and everyone came to greet me, WOW what a big family I got adopted into. There were noses and tails wagging everywhere. I remember being on the kitchen counter and mom noticed that my front legs were kinda bowed. Lack of proper nutrition she said to dad and put me on the “good food” that we all eat and some supplements.
A few days had passed and still no real name for me, “these things take time” mom said, we have to get to know your personality. Then one day my brothers and sisters (cats & dogs) were chasing me through the house as mom & dad were sitting on the couch and mom yelled out, “run Forest run!!!!!”
As they say the rest is history, that is how I got my name. My legs did straighten out and I am a very happy and as I like to say “fluffy” sort of guy.
