We have a great new series of posts. Tails from the happy trail will be posts about the hikes that my husband Bob and I take with the Freckled Paws Gang.
We will be posting pictures, video and let you know our thoughts on the trails that we hike.
I have truly enjoyed the hikes we have taken so far with the gang! To watch my little adventurers just BE! Everything is a new adventure to them. It is very pleasing and therapeutic for me me.
Our first hike was on the Sheafman Creek Trail. The trail itself leaves a lot to be desired. We had to keep hopping over or the pack went under the numerous downed trees. I fell after going over a downed log; still hurts to this day! I have spoken to the GREAT people who have been helping keep our trails cleared. A spokesman for the Back Country Horseman of the Bitterroot stated this trail will be on the list of maintained trails.
The hike itself once you get past the downed trees, is very picturesque. Don’t get me wrong, I am certainly not complaining, just letting you know what we encountered. The hike is very scenic and peaceful. The pack certainly enjoyed it enough, that we went back the following weekend.
The trailhead itself is a short drive from the main road. I certainly recommend this hike; although the next two hikes I will write about have taken us head over heals in love with our GREAT trails in the Bitterroot Valley, Montana in which we live.
I am also hoping to be able to write reviews on the pack gear used for hiking. We will see how that goes; so look for that as well in future posts.
Always remember to hike with your dog or pack on leashes. I am convinced this is the ONLY way to hike. Hiking with them on a leash gives you control of your dog(s) and it is to me being respectful of all who hike with their dog(s) to have complete control of yours. We have a bit of a problem here in the Bitterroot Valley with pets being caught in the traps that trappers set out; having your dog “on leash” when hiking will reduce the chances of your beloved furkid from getting caught in one of those awful traps.
So I hope you are looking as forward to these posts as I am. We will have trail condition reports, pictures and even video! How fun!
Thanks again for visiting our site!
The next Tails from the happy trail report will be on the Mill Creek trail.
